I ended up with the equation f(x) = 13.418x^0.742 (which I realise isn't logarithmic), which still grossly increased the Executor Dreadnought to an absurdly large size. So, I spent about an hour fiddling around with Microsoft Excel to see if I could format a logarithmic scale or something curved to decrease the size of larger ships. If I were to follow the linear scale, the Executor would be long enough to fill at least 5 computer screens in length, so there's no way I'm going with that.

The Executor-class Dreadnought is part of both scales, and is quite obviously too large in the linear scale to have in-game. The image below contains two scales: the current one (where I just "eye-balled" and guessed the size of ships roughly), and a linear scale.

Recently, I have been wondering whether the current ship scaling should be altered in AGFFA. Over time, the game universe will expand as contributors add new missions, story lines, alien species, places to explore, sound effects, and artwork.įor more information, please visit the website or read the player's manual. A plugin system allows anyone with a text editor and a paint program to create new ships, weapons, or missions, and the galaxy editor can be used to add new star systems and planets.Įndless Sky is free, open source, and cross platform (Windows, Mac, and Linux). You can choose between more than fifty ships and several hundred ship upgrades. The galaxy contains hundreds of star systems and planets, and several alien species with their own unique technologies. The main story line takes about 8-16 hours to play through. Take sides in a civil war, or ignore the story line and just enjoy exploring the galaxy and blasting pirates. Earn money by carrying passengers or cargo, escorting convoys, bounty hunting, or plundering and capturing enemy ships. Work your way up from a relatively wimpy shuttle, cargo ship, or fighter, to a highly upgraded and customized flagship or to a massive fleet of warships or freighters. I tend to prefer turning speed over thrust if I’m using guns and the opposite if I’m using turrets.Endless Sky is a 2D space trading and combat game inspired by the classic Escape Velocity series. If you want to capture bigger ships I tend to just use a crew/bunked out ship and have my escorts do the disabling while I watch the fire fight at a safe distance.įor your build definitely you get rid of those shoddy hai coolers and swap em for the human nitrogen.Īlternately you can drop all your turrets and just do the hai missiles, and shoot from afar, at least that way you can get by without the 2nd shield gen or any shield gen for that matter.Īnother way to save energy is to drop the big thruster and opt for the one that is down a ship size and throw an after burner on to make up the difference. I tend to just put laser turrets on my boat and a bunch of shield generators if I’m going for capping small ships. Sometimes you need a capacitor to get the guns shooting tho even if you have sufficient energy generation. You can have multiple of just about any power core. Ion cannons are nice but power hungry, I’d grab photons or inhibitor cannons, I find if you go for ions you kinda just use ions guns and no offensive turrets. Two ion cannons, 6 pulse cannons 1 ion, 2 pulse What am I missing here? how the heck are you supposed to power everything? This seems like I get 2-2.5 minutes at max combat. and it seems to mostly come down to the fact I run out of energy really quickly.Įnergy wise my idle is 1524, moving -696, firing -732, charge shields -1 (offset -54 way better than my original -526 but the ship still feels underpower offensively)Ĭooling: idle 618, moving 1632, firing 1430, charging shields 540, max 4920.5 (offset 700 ) seems I haven't been struggling with cooling. Work your way up from a relatively wimpy shuttle, cargo ship, or fighter, to a highly upgraded and customized flagship or to a massive fleet of warships or. and I keep getting this shit kicked out of my by a flock of pirate fighters and a medium. I managed to save up and buy a shield beetle now. Trying to make a ship that will capture other capital ships so I have been trying to use mostly beam weapons. Seems no matter what I have on hand I keep running out of energy before being able to effectively kill swarms of fighters let alone taking down some capital ships.
